its fourth Orange County branch in Otisville, NY, today announced Thomas
Gibney, President. Walden Federal will
open a full service bank branch to fill the void left by Citizen’s Bank when it
decided to close its Otisville branch at the end of September. Citizen’s was the only bank in this Orange
County community. The new branch will be located at the Otisville Convenient
Store at the corner of Route 211 and Sanitorium Avenue. The branch is expected to open within the
next sixty days and will offer a full array of everyday banking services,
including checking, savings, loans, debit and credit cards, as well as business
banking. “Walden Federal is a small community bank and prides itself
on serving the local communities of Orange County,” stated Thomas Gibney,
President. “In our marketing, we say
that Walden Federal is a friend to our customers and the community. At Walden Federal, this is not just a

bank in their community.” According to the Times Herald Record on 9/1/05, Citizen’s
Bank says that the decision to close their branch was a business decision based
on an analysis of its operations and customer base. When word of the Citizen’s branch closing was received,
Walden Federal began working with Mayor Lou Maurizzio on plans for the new
bank. “Upon hearing of Citizen’s Bank closing their Otisville
branch, I was totally aware of the hardship that losing the local bank will cause
for our community,” stated Mayor Lou Maurizzio. “While other banks I approached showed little interest, Walden
Federal came forward with enthusiasm.
Together, we researched a suitable and accessible location, preferably
near the former bank site. Walden
Federal is a friendly reminder of community service – we thank them and
